Why I built Brieflodge

Whether you work at an agency, freelance, or build things in-house, you know this feeling...
Jun 22, 2026

A project kicks off. The client or internal stakeholder is excited. You dive straight into execution. And then, two weeks later, the scattered Slack messages begin. A comment on a Notion page here. An email about a "slight change in direction" there. Suddenly, you are working off a PDF called Project_Brief_v4_FINAL_updated.pdf.

What started as billable craft—or productive deep work—quickly turns into unpaid cleanup, extra calls, and revision churn.

That is revenue-grade time being swallowed by preventable chaos instead of client work. I'm launching Brieflodge today to stop this from happening, and to give freelancers, agencies, and in-house teams the simplest way to turn messy requests into a scope-safe workflow.

The long road to finding the real problem

My career didn't start in software. I graduated with a master's degree in marketing and started working in advertising in Paris. Almost immediately, I saw how messy the creative process was. Vague ideas from stakeholders led to endless revisions, and the inefficiency of it all drove me crazy. I realized I wanted to build things from the ground up rather than just managing the chaos. So, I took my savings and decided to teach myself to code.

Learning to program was the hardest, most rewarding thing I had ever done (until I had kids and tried to get my dog to obey basic commands).

When I built my very first mobile app, I made every rookie mistake in the book. The biggest one? I didn't plan. I jumped straight into writing code and had to rewrite the entire app three times because of bad early decisions.

It taught me a brutal truth: if you don't structure your architecture before you build, you will pay for it later.

Eventually, I landed a job as a developer. A few years later, I took a leap and co-founded a tech consulting firm. We acted as tech partners for innovative companies, handling everything from product conceptualization to prototype validation.

Bad scoping had always been an expensive liability, but when you run the agency, you feel it directly in your own wallet. Whether you are a freelancer charging for your time, an agency protecting tight margins, or an in-house team trying to hit your KPIs without burning out, messy communication is an expensive leak.

Assumptions kill efficiency. Every time we started work without strict validation, we ended up eating the costs and doing extra work for free.

Before designing the solution for Brieflodge, I spent time interviewing independent freelancers, decision-makers at companies of all sizes, and leaders at top-tier creative agencies. The feedback was unanimous: the tools we use to do the work have evolved, but the way we define the work is still stuck in the past.

The industry had normalized scope creep.

Execution is faster than ever. Alignment isn't.

In the age of AI, your team can execute incredibly fast. But speed doesn't matter if you're building the wrong thing. Without guardrails, casual feedback turns into endless revisions.

That's what Brieflodge is here to fix. Brieflodge cuts rework before execution even starts by acting as a strict control layer for your projects.

I started building Brieflodge with a single, long-term destination in mind: to become the definitive single source of truth for project requirements and client approvals. Here is how we're building intelligent guardrails directly into your workflow:

  • 1. Intake: Block bad requests at the door. Stop starting projects with missing pieces. Smart intake forms force stakeholders to provide exact requirements, necessary assets, and clear goals before a request ever reaches your desk. No brief, no work.
  • 2. Alignment: Sign-offs that actually mean something. Stop digging through email threads for an "okay." Collaborate directly on the brief. Brieflodge’s AI clarifies vague feedback, while automated reminders chase clients for required, official sign-offs.
  • 3. Delivery: Turn casual requests into official scope changes. Once approved, the original brief is locked and Brieflodge instantly converts it into a structured roadmap. If a client asks for a mid-project change, Brieflodge automatically flags it if out-of-scope, turning a casual "Can we just add this?" into an official change request before new work happens.
  • 4. Retrospectives (Coming Soon): Close the loop. Brieflodge will analyze where your team lost time and automatically suggest smart improvements to your entire workflow for the next project.

Plays seamlessly with your existing stack

Brieflodge doesn't trap your data in a silo. We lock the scope, and let you execute wherever you want.

Supercharge your favorite AI (Powered by MCP) Give external tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Mistral direct access to Brieflodge. You can ask your favorite AI to instantly create a new brief for you, or let it read your locked, approved projects. Because the AI pulls context directly from your strictly defined goals, you get highly accurate work and zero hallucinations about project scope.

Your Existing Stack (Coming Soon) Run everything in Brieflodge, or sync it with your stack. If your dev team lives in Jira, or your marketing team demands Asana, no problem. Push your locked briefs and approved tasks directly into the tools they already use.

Proudly bootstrapped

I'm building Brieflodge as a bootstrapped founder.

I don't have external investors dictating a roadmap or pressuring me to add bloated features just to hit growth metrics. That means I can keep the product highly focused and incredibly easy to use. Brieflodge is designed to solve one problem perfectly—it won't ever turn into an overwhelming sandbox where you have to spend 10 hours building the system yourself just to use it.

Because Brieflodge is bootstrapped, I only answer to my users. If you reach out with feedback, report a bug, or request a feature, you are talking directly to the founder who actually built the product—someone who understands both the headaches and the challenges you face every day.

If you are tired of scope creep, scattered feedback, and building on shaky ground, I'd love for you to try it out. Stakeholders and guests are always free.
